3GUpload — which got a $20 million investment a couple of months ago — has relaunched under a new name, Mixxer.com. The Mixxer site has a web locker to store mobile content, as well as a recommendation service which is based on past purchases.
More interesting is the Mixxer Mash-ups, which lets people upload their own music and mix it with 17 pre-set sounds such as drum, bass, and snare, and then share the result with their friends. Independent artists are able to upload as many ringtones as they want with an artist profile page and bio, “and they’re officially in the mobile music space”, reads the press release.
