Marriott International: Senior Art Director – eCommerce, Bethesda, MD

Marriott International, a global hospitality leader and one of Fortune Magazine’s ‘100 Best Companies to work for in America’, has an opening in our eCommerce department for a Senior Art Director. This position is based at Marriott’s Corporate Headquarters in Bethesda, MD.
Specific Job Summary
Design and art direct complex, high-level creative projects for Marriott US and international sites, based on marketing strategy, customer feedback, usability testing and industry research. Provide creative leadership and coordination for project teams consisting of production artists, designers, and writers for strategic interactive design execution.
Specific Expected Contributions
— Manage high-profile, complex design initiatives
— Responsible for the design and execution of approximately 40 web based projects for approximately $175,000 worth of design services billings annually
— Represent eCommerce Design on complex website initiatives by providing strategic design input and ideas
— Through understanding of design and business/marketing relationship in creating strategically effective websites.
— Concept, strategize, and design web projects, including all aspects of the medium
— Create and organize all needed information through an understanding of information design and current state of the web.
— Research projects, site competition, and audience through the web, publications, and by analyzing user research findings and demographic information
— Present interactive design products to clients along with account executive and User Experience Lead
— Direct creative talent, including outside designers, photographers and illustrators, as project requires. Coordinate and supervise photo shoots, as required.
— Help develop estimates for design portion of projects and advise operations manager on time and resources needed for estimates and schedules on all projects. Review and advise on client billing and project invoices.
— Negotiate and purchase outside vendor products and services including: stock and contract photography, illustration, design, copy writing
— Research and learn latest technical capabilities and software relative to the web for application to web projects
— Advise User Experience Lead manager on department strategy, procedures, processes and new software and industry possibilities
— Act as a team role model and support Manager, Graphic Design in mentoring design
— Act as User Experience lead by providing strong leadership to our stakeholders and team members in order to create stronger solutions
— Coordinate with the UE program Lead for their project program to insure consistency with creative direction

Education/Experience
— Bachelors of Fine Arts degree preferred
