I’m not sure what the Russian equivalent of Rashoman is but it sounds like one variation of it played out at the World Editors Forum in Moscow today as Neil Budde from Yahoo News and Nathan Stoll from Google News told editors portals aren’t the enemy. Instead, they should be viewed as traffic drivers. AFP CEO Pierre Louette — whose company sued Google last year claiming copyright infringement — said news organizations like AFP have to protect their interests. “We have to be paid for making our news available,” Louette said, according to the account from his own AFP.
