ProFlowers: Vice President of Merchandising

Responsibilities:
— Responsible for overall merchandising strategy and vision for ProFlowers – includes cut flowers, plants, seasonal items, and non-perishable gift elements such as vases.
— Establish short and long range merchandising objectives that support the overall merchandising strategy.
— Direct the development of new products to meet the needs of the customer to maximize revenue and margin targets.
— Drive innovation in merchandising, design and presentation of products (including packaging), with an eye toward scalable and material opportunities
— Oversee the sourcing of product to ensure the appropriate merchandising assortment at the right value and quality, working collaboratively with other resources within the organization
— Establish an effective product development process from idea to consumer concept testing, sourcing, QA, market testing and launch.
— Ensure merchandising strategy reinforces the ProFlowers brand strategy and helps strengthen and distinguish the ProFlowers brand
Qualifications:
Ideally, the candidate will have at least 10 years experience with a well respected, high volume specialty retailer or direct to consumer business with multiple product categories, seasonal peaks and a high SKU count.
— Clear understanding of the importance of trend, price, value and quality as it relates to product assortment and its projected success
— Able to synthesize competitive and art market trends, market data and consumer insights into merchandising strategies and new products.
— Proven understanding of how to merchandise in a seasonal business.
— Strong consumer orientation
— Proven track record of successful operation and management of staff. Able to motivate individuals and teams, as well as recognize and grow talent.
