Newspaper Techniques: Here is a despatch from the World Association of Newspapers 2006 conference in Moscow. Sanjiv Gupta, CEO of Bodhtree Consulting Ltd, says: “It’s our first time in Moscow and our aim is to bring our innovative technology called Pressmart into Russian market. At present, newspapers post their content to bring it closer to the readership using the Internet and creating so-called “news portals,” limited in content. What we offer is an ‘ePaper,’ a way to create a complete electronic version of the newspaper with consist (sic) of articles, blogs, search, photo galleries, classifieds, multimedia ads, etc. In just 13 months we have 59 newspapers from 21 countries and a number of views reaching 0.5 million a day.”
Here is another story saying the print newspaper industry in India is rocking. India sells 78.7 million copies daily and leads the major democratic powers with free press followed by Japan 69.7 million, the United States (53.3 million copies) and Germany (21.5 million copies), according to a report by Paris-based World Newspaper Association (WAN). China remains the topper with 96.6 million copies sold daily.
