CIOL: Many websites with .co.in extension developed connectivity problems on Thursday and Friday. They displayed messages like “Website not found” message or “This page cannot be displayed”. This was due to the failure of name servers (NS) kept in the US and it was because of DNS cache poisoning (what is it?). National Internet Exchange of India (NiXI), which is responsible for providing .co.in domain registry in India, said that the problem cropped up around 11 a.m. on Thursday.
“We have two name servers. The second name server, kept as a back up for the first server, failed to switch over automatically when the first one failed due to technical snag. All the .co.in registered websites have failed,” an NiXI official told CyberMedia News. He said the problem would be fixed by Friday late night.
