Finally, a visible sign of Ask’s post-acquisition impact on Bloglines — a much-needed high-end search engine for Bloglines and the addition of blog/feed search to Ask’s front page. Ask mixes its own search technology with Bloglines activity to power keyword searches across an estimated an estimated 1.5 billion blog posts and 2.5 million feeds. (Ask itself was acquired by IAC/I.) It’s one of numerous ongoing (Technorati, Google Blog Search, Feedster, IceRocket) and new (Sphere.com) efforts to make the escalating content in blogs and feeds more accessible and useful. No one service has it completely figured out….expect much more VC and M&A activity in this space in the next year or so.
