Technical Search Startup Krugle Bags $6.1 Million Funding

Krugle, a search engine for software developers, has raised another $6.1 million…the second round of funding was led by Rustic Canyon Partners Other investors included Emergence Capital Partners, First Round Capital, and Omidyar Network. The startup raised $1.2 million in its first round of funding in October.
The service hasn’t yet launched, but will “soon”. Founded early last year, the Menlo Park, CA-based company has created a specialized search engine that will index source code, technical terms, and white papers for its audience of professional software programmers. Besides this, Krugle will also offer a workspace where programmers can work independently or collaboratively by sharing search results and annotations with their peers.
It plans to sell advertising and also hopes to offer a premium version of its product that will search behind firewalls.
