AOL: Network Programming Producer / Dulles, VA location

Primary Roles
Programming: Lead daily production of network programming content and design for the AOL Welcome Screen, the AOL website main page, the video main page, BV Welcome, AIM and other network products as required. Specific efforts may require writing, editing, design direction, photo editing, planning and coordination of programming content from a variety of sources to meet network standards and objectives for timeliness, currency, relevance, impact and business objectives of the channels and categories.
Key Functions
— Leads daily programming planning and design for effectiveness, relevance, timeliness and editorial value according to schedule for assigned categories/businesses
— Provides creative direction and daily management for cross-functional teams of editors, designers, photo editors and others to meet scheduled programming needs on deadline, targeted to specific audiences, platforms and products
— Works with network producers, graphics, photo and other teams to develop programming concepts for daily programming, special programs, special events and other needs.
Channel Editor Liaison: Works with network channel editors and other key contributors to develop and showcase
key areas and content of AOL products, programming and services to drive usage, traffic, member interaction, and to fulfill business goals of categories
Key Functions
— Provides daily management for production of programming to support assigned categories, programs and products.
— Works with Channel Editors and category liaisons to develop programming packages that balance editorial and commerce objectives, integrating functional content as needed, to meet network programming goals.
— Develops content in conjunction with channel and category programming to align with main page programming to provide immediate content payoff on landing page, programming value and quality of page and links, and relevance/timeliness of content
— Monitors click-through data and other performance of programming for assigned categories to ensure goals are being met on a timely basis
Skills Required:
— Superior writing, editing, proofreading, copywriting skills
— Expert visual design style and command of all current design tools and technologies
— Able to act and write under pressure, react nimbly to real-time events and manage publishing processes
— Detail-oriented with an ability to juggle multiple tasks and changing priorities
— Strong sense of popular culture with the ability to spot consumer and media trends
— Able to distill diverse and complex range of information into clear, concise text
— Strong interpersonal skills to maintain relationships with content providers and other partners across the service
— Excellent team player, within network programming organization and across the company
Skills Desired:
— Strong consumer editorial background in magazines, newspapers and/or online, or related fields
— Substantial background and experience in editorial visual design direction
— Experience with tight publishing deadlines in rapidly changing environment
— Headline writing and/or editorial promotional writing
