Social Networking Goes Mobile

Some more stuff from the BW article Rafat posted about earlier
The market for mobile social looks promising…one interesting statistic mentioned is that “33.2% of 18- to 24-year-old Americans post photos to Web sites via mobile phones” (M:Metrics), so people are already used to using mobile phones to interact with social websites.
As for the unique properties of mobile phones, Dodgeball is working on a system to let users see the location of their friends on a map, while JuiceCaster will soon automatically provide location information on pictures and video uploaded from mobile handsets…I’m assumiing there’ll be some sort of permission sought.
Finally, BW makes the point that mobile social networks “could also encourage more users to buy unlimited data plans, allowing for mobile Web access”…which would be great news for the carriers.
