“Juniper Research analyst Bruce Gibson has forecast huge growth for the mobile gambling industry, predicting that the value of bets placed will rise from US$2 billion to US$23 billion by 2011.” This is a huge increase, which Gibson says will mainly come from the increasing popularity of mobile lotteries, which will account for 41% of the market over the next five years. It’s not just about established customers going mobile, either: “We anticipate that the mobile channel will push gambling services out to a broader/lower stake market than existing channels, offering opportunities for market growth where legislation permits,” he said.
