Amp’d Revs Up MotoGP Package

One of the serendipities Amp’d has going for it is that the places it wants to sponsor to attract customers also have content it wants to provide to its customers. The latest deal is to be the “Official U.S. Wireless Sponsor of the USGP”, which will see the carrier give the motorcycle race its own channel in Amp’d Sports. This will include live and near live video, video highlights post race, pre-race coverage from race host city, and exclusive MotoGP content such as ringtones and wallpapers. “As part of the partnership, Amp’d will mobile cast live video exclusively from the Red Bull US Grand Prix in Laguna Seca on July 23, 2006. Elements of Amp’d wireless services will be incorporated into the US Grand Prix providing an on-site interactive experience for MotoGP fans.”
The big question is what the financial aspects of the deal were, and whether the sponsorship and content will bring in enough customers to justify the cost for Amp’d.
