Cola Battles Shifting To The Internet

The Hindu Business Line: After a long thaw in the marketing battles between Coca-Cola and Pepsi, now it seems a new battlefront is opening up. The internet. The cola brands such as Sprite, Pepsi and Mountain Dew are now expanding their presence from TV to the internet with innovative campaigns being launched online. Last year, Pepsi launched their TV campaign on Yahoo.co.in even before it was launched on TV. Now Yahoo hosts Pepsi TV. It has also launched a mobile initiative – Globe Smart Client – powered by Yahoo India, which can provide access to Pepsi Zone, the company’s online portal.
Coca-Cola recently launched “Sprite-itude” experience zone, an interactive Web zone for Sprite drinkers. Pepsi has also launched Mountain Dew webcast. All this is a sign of traction in the Indian online advertising market. Now marketers believe they can get greater bang for their online advertising bucks.
