Weekend Viewing: “Amazon Fishbowl” Pilot

fishbowl.gifAmazon Fishbowl with Bill Maher,”Amazon’s entree into broadband programming, launches Thursday, June 1 at 11 p.m. Eastern. The shows will be taped live in Hollywood weekly through August 27 and played on Amazon that night. The format is nothing new — stand-up from Bill Maher, interviews with authors, artists and the like, and, for the sponsor, a UPS Special Delivery to an Amazon customer. In the meantime, the pilot episode taped live at the Sundance Film Festival is up with Stephen King, Armistead Maupin, Rob Thomas and Paul Reiser making the UPS delivery. Good video quality in the embedded Flash player, entertaining show, the ability to watch segments. One minus: just pause and play, so no rewinding.
— Amazon is making tickets available for the weekly taping.
— The “Fishbowl” page includes links to books and CDs by those on the show.
