It’s Rush Hour For Auto Portals

Just like travel portals have been pouring in, there are auto portals too joining the internet rush. The latest is DriveInside.com, launched by Delhi-based online interactive solutions company ModuleOne. Soumya Meattle, CEO of the company, writes this note to us:

At DriveInside.com, our mission is to empower automotive consumers by providing complete, clear, timely, accurate, and unbiased information needed to make informed purchase and ownership decisions. Our vision is to become India’s leading Internet automotive marketing services company, that helps retailers sell cars and manufacturers build brands through marketing, advertising, data and CRM (customer relationship management) products and programs.

I am sure this mission statement is more or less the same for other portals too. So here is a listing of other top auto portals in India:

AutomartIndia.com
It’s probably the oldest auto website and is perceived as a leader in the space. It’s part of the $2-billion Mahindra & Mahindra group, and the other stakeholders are HDFC, and retailer Sah & Sanghi. It also has an offline model with a chain of multi brand used car outlets in major cities.

AutoIndia.com
A news item on the site claims that it recorded sales of around 950 vehicles in April 2006 alone. Apparently, the portal has drawn in about 3000 buyers and sellers and 2.5 million hits (who measures hits these days!) alone in April. The company is promoted by a group of NRIs and is based in Trivandrum, Kerala.

Carwale.com
It’s a startup, and the joining of venture capitalist Vasudev Bhandarkar (a partner at Blue Run Ventures) on the board of advisors is a big fillip to the company. The company claims to provide buyers and sellers with sophisticated online tools and services to maximize their next car sale or purchase. It’s primarily Mumbai-based and has a network of new car and pre-owned car dealers who provide stock details, quotes and other services.

Bharatautomobiles.com
From its site: This site is owned and operated by AmTek Systems Inc., a Delaware company. The site is funded by angel investors and many non resident Indians.

The listing is not exhaustive. If you have more names, please comment.
