Mobile ESPN, the JV between ESPN and STAR, covering football, cricket, tennis, and other sports, has been launched in India through Airtel. The launch is through Bridge Mobile Alliance, an Asian body of eight operators, where Airtel had recently joined.
This means Airtel’s FIFA World Cup Football 2006 coverage will be powered by Mobile ESPN. The services are delivered through a regional infrastructure platform provided by Bridge Mobile and rights holder/vendor NeuStar. The content package will include the latest breaking team news, fixture listings, half-time and full-time scores, penalties and injuries, which will be available on SMS/ WAP alerts.
