Chicago Tribune Interactive: Executive Producer, Chicago

Chicago Tribune Interactive is hiring an executive producer to oversee the programming teams on chicagotribune.com, ChicagoSports.com and metromix.com. This position leads a team of more than 20 producers and editors focused on news, entertainment and sports that serves more than 3 million unique visitors a month. The Executive Producer ensures that Chicago Tribune’s interactive products are delivering the best possible programming to its site visitors and advertisers at all times. He or she will also play a critical role in launching new products for Chicago’s online consumers.
Strong team building, leadership and communication skills are key to success in this role, as well as a broad understanding of the industry trends that are impacting online media. The executive producer works closely with the General Manager and other managers within Chicago Tribune Interactive and also closely with the editorial staffs within Chicago Tribune Company to build new and evolve existing products, so broad-based editorial experience, strong knowledge of interactive trends and team leadership skills will be paramount to a candidate’s success in this role.
Qualified candidates will also have the following:
— Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications or related educational field
— A minimum of five years of relevant interactive media experience, preferably at a print or online media entity. Additional experience in broadcast media is a plus
— Broad-based editorial skills are required, as well as experience managing an editorial expense budget
— Minimum five years of management experience in a media businesses required, as well as demonstrated ability to lead complex projects from formulation to successful rollout
— A track record of building a successful consumer media products is preferred, with related experience in developing and launching new products
— Excellent communication skills, presentation skills, and strong relationship building capabilities
— A demonstrated ability to develop and lead teams of people from various departments and business units in the product development process
