Yahoo Media Group’s Reorg: The Memo From Lloyd Braun
Team,
I’m pleased to announce some organizational changes to YMG that we believe will position us well for continued and accelerated success.
First, Vince Broady, formerly a senior executive at CNET Networks, will join YMG as head of our games and entertainment properties effective June 14th. Vince is an online innovator in every sense of the word, co-founding GameSpot in 1995 and then serving in several executive roles at both ZDNet and CNET. In his most recent role at CNET, Vince oversaw a number of sites, including GameSpot, MP3.com, TV.com and Metacritic.com. In his new role, Vince will assume the management duties of our entertainment properties, including movies and TV, and will also oversee our games and youth businesses. The closer alignment of our games, youth and entertainment properties will allow us to take advantage of the common business opportunities and audiences that these sites represent. Vince will also be taking on a leadership role in helping shape the group’s overall video business, working closely with Jeff Karish and our senior leadership team to create innovative and engaging video experiences across all of our properties. Vince’s experience in each of these areas makes him the perfect person for this position and we are very excited to have him on board.
David Katz will continue to oversee Yahoo! Sports, and will also take on a new role within Yahoo! Media Group as head of Yahoo! Studios. Yahoo! Studios will focus on the development and production of event-based, original and user-generated content for all of Yahoo! Media Group. I know David’s creativity and business acumen will make him a perfect fit for this new and important role, and we look forward to continued momentum from David and his teams.
Scott Moore will continue to oversee news, finance and technology and also assume responsibility for health and lifestyles. Scott’s team has seen much success in the past year, including the recent launch of Yahoo! Tech, the closing of our upcoming 60 Minutes deal and some great new features on Yahoo! Finance.
Finally, I want to thank Shawn Hardin for all of his hard work and the invaluable contributions he’s made to this team. Our Games, Health and Youth businesses have all gathered great momentum under Shawn’s leadership, and as a result these properties are each in a great position to succeed in the future. Shawn has decided to pursue other opportunities and we wish him well in all of his future endeavors.
Please join me in congratulating David and Scott on their new roles, thanking Shawn for his past contributions, and welcoming Vince to the YMG team. I look forward to seeing everyone at tomorrow’s Get Together.
Lloyd
