Promise..the last bit of EU news for today. EU media commissioner Viviane Reding will be at the ongoing Cannes film festival to unveil a charter on downloading that the European Commission has drawn up with input from U.S. and EU film and telco companies, including Time WarnerTime Warner, Telecom Italia, Vivendi and Belgacom.
The charter maintains that both sides should profit from online film sales; it also hopes to make the clearance of film rights easier and strives to make technology consumer-friendly.
