Soundbuzz Plans Pre-Paid Cards For Mobile Music

DNA: Soundbuzz has interesting plans to tap India’s growing mobile market. They are looking at launching pre-paid music download cards. They are likely to hit the market in 4 to 6 months time. Sudhanshu Sarronwala, founder and CEO of Soundbuzz, told DNA Money, “The concept of download cards has been developed to provide consumers with an alternative payment option for purchasing music online, given the low credit card penetration in India. The download card will work exactly the way pre-paid mobile card works. The objective is to offer the music connoisseurs flexibility in terms of number of songs, ease of payment and making the transaction completely fool-proof and transparent.”
India is predominantly a mobile market, so prepaid card would be a good way to penetrate into the price sensitive segment.
In a related development, Soundbuzz and Airtel have joined hands to launch full song and video downloads. This deal has made the Singapore-based Soundbuzz Asia’s only multi-market mobile music distributor. It also had tied up with M1 in Singapore and SingTel’s Optus in Australia.
