Zingy: Director, Product Development, NYC

As a Director of Product Development, you will be responsible for the complete life cycle, from inception to retirement, of a variety of product lines from the Zingy portfolio. To be successful as a Director, you must share our passion for well executed products, enjoy understanding the marketplace and be able to balance the demands of the business, the technology and product design to delivery a successful offering in a timely manner. We are looking for strategic self starters who can execute in the dynamic and challenging mobile space.
As Director, you will report to the Vice President of Product Development and will have a small team to manage. This is a full-time position located in New York City. We will not pay relocation costs for this position and will give strong preference to candidates who already live in New York City metro area.
Responsibilities:
— Rapidly develop expert knowledge of assigned product lines and competitive landscape.
— Return on Investment ownership for all product initiatives.
— Identify all project stakeholders for all projects; work with mobile carrier sales, marketing, content, developers, QA, systems, customer service, finance, ad sales, licensing and creative teams to deliver projects and resolve issues in a timely manner.
— Manage and meet deadline deliverables from internal and external partners, developers, and vendors.
— Write product specification documents, which are the roadmaps by which developers will build new products.
— Test applications for progress/quality and assist QA to fix/resolve bugs in a timely manner.
— Train marketing and customer service on initiatives
— Pro-actively give status reports about applications in development management.
— Communicate all project details to project team and customers (internal and external) on regular basis, accurately, completely and consistently.
— Be pro-active, take initiative in setting up projects, project teams, and processes required for project success
— Maintain consistent high quality, as measured by customers, including external customers and partners, VP of Product Development and other, internal senior staff
— Represent the company in a professional manner at all times in verbal and written communications
— Manage expectations of all customers during all phases of a project; customers include external customers and partners, VP of Product Development and other, internal senior staff
— Seek peer or manager review for documentation, product designs and other project details, e.g. scheduling
— Learn various technologies required to do job and keep up-to-date with new technologies
— Complete other tasks, as assigned by peers and VP of Product Development
Qualifications:
— 5-7 years experience building consumer-facing software/internet products at a known software/Internet company.
— Experience managing projects and personnel.
— Strong passion and desire to succeed.
— Team player with demonstrated history of strong leadership.
— Ability to meet tight deadlines.
— Clear, consistent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
— Strong organizational skills.
— Experience in the mobile industry a plus
