Airtel Launches Music Video, Sells 75M Ringtones

India’s Airtel has launched “Full Music and Full Music Video downloads”, I think it’s the first time full-tracks have been available for mobile download in India. The price is set at Rs.20 (US$0.44) for a full music download and Rs.30 (US$0.66) for a music video download. Also, something that I missed, Airtel recently launched Easy Music, which sells “18,000 songs in 20 languages via 100,000 Airtel music outlets”…the mobile content is sold via the retail stores. Airtel is using Soundbuzz’s service for this, which is also used by M1 in Singapore and SingTel’s Optus in Australia.
Airtel has now sold 75 million ringtones, including “Hello Tunes (Ring back tone) as well as ring tones of all forms including MP3, truetones, polytones and mono tones”.
