Suburban Newspaper Group To Launch National Online Ad Network

The Suburban Newspapers of America, a non-profit trade asssociation for nearly 2,000 papers, is launching a national ad network for its member papers June 1; the Suburban Online Network includes 152 sites (with 40 million monthly pageviews) representing 370 U.S. and Canadian papers. The new network’s sales manager Deanna Lewis told ClickZ one goal is to attract more local advertisers by drawing in national accounts. Advertisers already placing ads in local papers won’t be be sold via the network. The rate is $0.50 CPM run-of-network for up to six advertisers a month. Publishers will provide up to six run-of-site placements or one rotating on the homepage. In exchange, SNA will give them rebates and member benefits.
The idea isn’t new. Lee Enterprises belongs to SNA but already invests in a different network, TownNews.com.
