Vivendi Games is a global developer, publisher and distributor of multi-platform interactive entertainment. The company is a leader in the subscription-based massively multi-player online (MMO) games category, and also holds leading positions in the PC, console and handheld games markets. VG publishes best-selling video game titles for PC, console systems, and the Web. Games include The Simpsons: Hit & Run, The Hulk, Warcraft, and Crash Bandicoot. Vivendi Games owns development studios Blizzard Entertainment, Fox Interactive, Knowledge Adventure, Massive Entertainment, Value Line, High Moon Studios, and Swordfish Studios. As sign of its commitment to and belief in the huge growth potential of premium content for mobile devices, the company is investing in creating a new division (as of March 2006) VUG Mobile, which has plans to bring some of the most popular VG titles, including Crash Bandicoot, Spyro the Dragon, and Leisure Suit Larry, to mobile phones around the globe. The company has agreements to sell these games with 70 network operators in 40 countries. They also have original for mobile titles under development and plans to license other IP in order to augment their broad portfolio. This team is recruiting for a Marketing & Promotions Director to drive business growth.
GENERAL SUMMARY DESCRIPTION
The Director of Marketing & Promotions will be accountable for leading the development and execution of loyalty marketing and promotional programs with VG Mobile business partners and branded mobile content. This is a stand-alone hands-on role with direct responsibility for creation and implementation of successful product and partner marketing campaigns for mobile products launched in the Americas as well as with distribution outlets including major brand channels and carrier distribution channels. The role works closely with the Director of Business Development, the European Marketing Manager, WW Publishing & Product Development, North America Sales and in coordination with Brand Management and Online & Trade Marketing at VG. (Note: this is a functional description–job level to be determined based on candidate experience level.)
RESPONSIBILITES
— Develop and implement all marketing plans for VG Mobile products and programming across mobile, online, print and broadcast.
— Develop media and advertising opportunities and campaigns for VG Mobile’s brand partners, carrier channels and consumer outlets across all forms of media.
— Develop and execute successful promotional programs across VG Mobile carrier, brand and consumer channels. Work with key brand partners to lead ongoing integrated promotions across all forms of media.
— Responsible for the management and execution of day to day partner marketing and for driving the creation of marketing tools and programs for the partner channels.
— Lead and implement brand positioning and marketing plans to ensure successful content launches, promotions and marketing programs. Must be able to manage strategic relations, gather research and produce dynamic communication tools.
— Maintain marketing budgets and track the performance and success metrics of internal and external marketing campaigns. Coordinate with sales and product management to ensure company has all relevant market performance information and research.
REQUIREMENTS
Experience:
— 7-10 years experience in consumer and partner marketing and promotions in the entertainment industry preferably with at least 2 years experience working with a video game publisher or in the mobile content space
— Strong experience in development and implementation of major marketing initiatives including product positioning, integrated promotions, advertising campaigns, sweepstakes and partner marketing.
— Experience in product management, marketing planning, marketing communications and/or market/industry analysis
— Experience in managing external customer/partner relationships
— Familiar with basic P&L and financials
— Familiar with product development processes
Skills/Abilities:
— Self motivated team player and facilitator with a proven track record of successfully managing multiple projects in a dynamic/changing environment and seeing those projects through to a successful completion.
— Strong project management abilities required along with ability to project manage and inspire others. Ability to multitask, organize and prioritize. Ability to work cross-functionally between PD, Brand Management, Finance and Business Development and cross-culturally between Europe and the Americas
— Knowledge of the mobile games market and a commitment to understanding consumer behavior as it relates to entertainment and mobile content.
— Good analytical skills and ability to synthesis information
— Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
— May be required to travel domestically in support of the sales team for pitch to carriers and other distribution partners
— May be required to travel internationally to Europe to meet with the product development team
Education:
— BA in Marketing or Business related discipline, MBA preferred
