EVP Nickelodeon and MTVN Kids and Family
Overall Responsibilities:
Responsible for the creative vision, strategy, operations, and P and L of the Nickelodeon/MTVN Kids and Family pre-school and parents online businesses. Brands/Sites include Nick Jr (including Nickjr Playtime and Nickjr Parents), Go City Kids, and Parents Connect – potential additional sites to come as business expands.
Responsibilities also include active membership on Nickelodeon/MTVN Kids and Family Exec Digital Exec Team and a key participant in the development of the overall Nickelodeon/MTVN Kids and Family Pre-school and Parents Strategy.
Directly supervises a team of: all online editorial, design, creative, production and programming efforts:
Partner and/or Guides technology group, marketing, and ad sales, and Digital Products in relation to the Preschool/Parents Online business.
Specific Responsibilities:
a. Develop brand positioning and extension strategies
b. Work with ad sales and research to identify market opportunity and segmentation with parents of young children
c. Provide ad sales with advertising opportunities and planning
d. Creatively distinguish from competition
e. Coordinate across brand to ensure brand integrity and integration with TV and Magazine
f. Ongoing development of editorial and production team
g. Partner/support the VP of Digital Products, in the development of wireless, interactive TV, paid gaming, and paid video content opportunities h. Develop marketing plan with Digital Marketing Group
i. Coordinate brand convergence
j. Work with Technology Group to identify and commission key applications for preschool/parent sites
k. Direct product development calendar
l. Develop business plan as part of overall Nickelodeon/MTVN Kids and Family Digital plan
m. Develop production objectives and guidelines
n. Direct establishment of production processes and best practices
o. Act as creative director making brand creative approvals for site – working with centralized Nickelodeon/MTVN Kids and Family Creative Services Group as appropriate
p. Maximize creative while optimizing budget
q. Meet regularly with TV programming and on-air promotions group to maximize convergent opportunities and TV
promotion
r. Work with the Magazine group to coordinate content development and promotion and appropriate
s. Develop annual brand synergy content plan
t. Legal – partner and vendor deal points, rights issues, intellectual property issues, contracts
u. Finance – accountable
for production budget (as well as head count, freelance and t&e),
oversee “shadow” site p&l
v. Manage, develop and motivate team
Required Qualification/Skills:
Candidate Skills / Profile:
– Passion for and knowledge of MTVN preschool and parent family of
brands
– Innovator with a strong strategic perspective
– Keen sense of priorities – ability to rapidly assess what is important
and convey to others
– Ability to manage and motivate cross-functional teams
– Ability to work effectively across an organization
– Flexibility to work in a highly creative company
– Strong creative and editorial experience and ability to communicate
vision and voice
– P&L skills: ability to financially analyze, structure business plan
and strategize effectively to take a business to profitability
– Hardworking, energetic, decisive and intellectually quick individual
– Minimum 10 years media business experience
