Another mobile social media site… vMix users have been uploading videos and photos from their mobile phones since January, and there are now more than 10,000 user-generated video and slide shows on the site. The site appears to be US-centric (at least, all the carriers mentioned are American) and offers “creative tools that enable vMix members to easily create, edit and share original content with the vMix audience”. The company also has a relationship with Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment which allows members to integrate branded content from movies and TV shows such as Walk the Line, American Dad, and Napoleon Dynamite, and a collection of more than 6,000 licensed indie music tracks that users can mix into their slideshows and videos. This extra branded content is a big drawcard — people want to use this sort of thing when creating home movies/slideshows, and of course it’s illegal, so it’s a very good thing for such social networks and user-gen sites to offer.
