Vertical Search Sites: Reed Business’s Zibb.com; Ziff Davis’ Gazerk.com

Two vertical search site launches of note within the last week:
Reed Business has launched Zibb.com, a freestanding destination for global B2B search, made its debut in beta form on the site of EDN, Reed’s flagship title in electronics. Within a few weeks, Zibb.com will be incorporated as the search engine for the rest of the Reed Electronics Group, including Electronic Business, Electronic News and Test & Measurement World. It not only returns results from Reed’s sites, databases and advertisers but also from the publisher’s competitors, other suppliers, blogs and anywhere else on the Web relevant business information may reside.
The plan is to roll out Zibb.com as a freestanding, international b-to-b search brand over the next several months. Reed’s construction titles will incorporate Zibb search next. Revenues model: Google AdSense and branded advertising down the line…
Ziff Davis has launched Gazerk, a new video gaming vertical search site. The engine will search across ZD gaming properties and the sites of other gaming publishers. The gaming vertical allows gamers to “slice” search results into editorial categories like news, reviews, previous, cheats and videos. Funded by AdSense for now…Gazerk is built using technology from Kosmix, a search engine company founded by Amazon.com’s former GM, Venky Harinarayan. Kosmix has developed verticals on its own search engine for health, travel and politics.
The B2B section is sponsored by Streaming Media East.
