CTIA is really the big place for mobile games, but a few are unveiled at E3 — and there are some good ones in the works. For example, do you know what’s good about the Muppets? Everything! Seriously, I’m not a big fan of licenses but there are some that are very hard to do badly. There’s three games from Disney Mobile in this E3 article: Muppets Puzzle Party, Cars, and Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Mans Chest, which gets a good report.
Also at E3, Tecmo is offering a lot of its retro games for mobile, which is low-hanging fruit but I’m wondering if the whole retro thing is losing its appeal.
Going with the “if-it-ain’t-broke-don’t-fix-it” idea, Square Enix has put out five versions of its Final Fantasy series. I found the most interesting one to be Final Fantasy VII: Dirge of Cerberus, which is billed as ‘The Lost Episode’ because it forms a missing chapter of the similarly named PS2 game that’s also being released this summer. There’s other Square Enix IP as well.
