Sony Ericsson Banks On Da Vinci

Sony Ericsson has plans for mobile content based around the upcoming fictional movie The Da Vinci Code in a bid to sell more handsets. “Miles Flint, president of Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications, said at the Ericsson Capital Markets Day in New York that the handset manufacturer will have several new products leveraging the movie. These include an audio book that can be played on Sony Ericsson phones enabled for Sony Memory Sticks.”
Flint also claimed that Sony Ericsson is “the world leader in mobile music” because the company has “shipped 5.5 million Walkman phones by the end of the first quarter”.
This is the first year that Sony Ericsson has made a payment to its parents based on their original investments, and that the companies goal was not necessarily to gain market share but to be profitable and “to match or surpass the growth of the overall market”…which would pretty much involve increasing marketshare, but profitably.
