As we reported first yesterday, Yahoo Sports is providing some live NHL games and video highlights through an agreement with Comcast’s OLN. That agreement goes beyond hockey, although only NHL games will be webcast live. According to this afternoon’s official announcement from the two, the deal includes:
— Live streaming of Stanley Cup playoffs started last week and will run through the second round; daily five-minute reports from OLN’s studio crew throughout the playoffs, which are exclusive to Yahoo and OLNTV.com. During the next season, Yahoo will stream three live games a week through the regular season and the first two play-off rounds. (Can’t tell from the site which, if any, of tonight’s three games will be streamed The Sabres-Senators are streaming live tonight.)
— Video recaps and updates covering the Tour de France, the Giro D’Italia, the Dakar Rally, the Professional Bull Riders, the Davis Cup, the Boston Marathon, AMA Motocross and the Arena Football League. Some content is up now with the balance going live in the fall.
As for the business side, no details announced but revenue share would be the norm. In addition, OLN gets far more online traction than it could through parent Comcast, even though it’s the largest MSO and among the top ISPs.
