Zoove Offers Alternative To Short Codes

Zoove is offering an alternative to short code SMS — a system where people simply press the star button twice and then the number to access the desired short code. The company cites research (probably commissioned by itself) which found that “only 47 percent of mobile users know how to send a text message to a short code. And 85 percent of those find the process too difficult or time-consuming for practical use”. I find that first figure hard to believe…still, the StarStar system is easier than using SMS.
“Zoove’s technology uses Signaling System 7, a set of telephony signaling protocols used to set up calls on the public switched telephone network. Like short codes, the system can be used to send marketing messages or a WAP or Web link a user can click to receive more information.”
With an easy way to respond to marketing messages there may be more effort in mobile, and more free content available as companies try to lure people to receive their message.
