Warner Bros. Will Include Streaming With Sheen Sitcom Syndication

Just when it looked like we might be running out of online video firsts worth writing about comes word that Warner Bros. will include online streaming with the syndication rights to “Two and a Half Men” with Charlie Sheen. Bruce Rosenblum, president of Warner Bros. Television Group, told the WSJ the studio will evaluate streaming on a case-by-case basis: “The advertising industry is insisting on including the Internet as a component of their on-air buys. This is a way for local stations to dramatically enhance the value of their broadband offerings.” Some details:
Warner Bros. and stations will split ad revenues 50-50. A 15-second, unskippable ad will run at the top. (One ad doesn’t seem like enough.)
— Warner Bros. will control the streaming.
— Stations will be allowed to stream the previous week’s five episodes.
— Episodes will air free as VOD streams.
