A new consumer-generated online video advertising startup ViTrue, founded by Reggie Bradford, formerly President of Tandberg Television, CEO of N2 Broadband and CMO of WebMD, has received $2.2 million in funding from General Catalyst Partners and ViTrue’s founder.
The Atlanta-based company has also acquired Sharkle.com, an online video sharing website, as part of its efforts to kickstart its business. ViTrue hopes that consumers will create video ads for both online and traditional media outlets, and will provide the platform to do it…Sharkle will be the consumer outlet for that and other videos.
MediaPost: ViTrue has quietly already been doing that behind the scenes for several big marketers, including Sony Pictures, which created a consumer-generated ad campaign for its popular movie, “The Benchwarmers.”
