From TV Guide’s parent’s Q1 earnings call earlier last week, some numbers and plans for its TV Guide Mobile segment. It recently launched TV Guide Mobile and EPG system and will spend $3 million on the sector, of which $817,000 was incurred in Q1, the company said.
Some more details from the company: “We recently signed an agreement with SprintNextel to launch the next generation of TV Guide Mobile on SprintNextel handsets. This service targeted for delivery later this year is a significant upgrade from the current version of the TV Guide Mobile IPG now available on most SprintNextel handsets. In April, we also announced an agreement with Cingular, where through Cingular Wireless’ streaming video service, Cingular Video, subscribers now have the opportunity to access a mobile, on demand version of TV Guide Channel while they are on the go. Cingular and TV Guide Mobile Entertainment have also signed an agreement under which TV Guide will deliver additional products and services to Cingular devices.
Finally at this year’s CTIA and NCTA, we showcased a proof of concept client and server system for delivering an EPG for mobile TV. The mobile TV EPG provides a guide and instant access to multiple forms of mobile video content including live and on demand video delivered via broadcast or Unicast networks and other rich media through an easy to use interface.”
