AOL Europe Hires Banker For Sale Options

Time Warner has hired Citigroup to explore options for its AOL Europe unit, including possible partnerships or the sale of parts of the businesses, reports WSJ…AOL Europe, which started in 1995, has struggled in the region because of the near monopolies enjoyed by incumbent national telephone companies..AOL Europe had 5.9 million subscribers across the U.K., Germany and France as of March 31, down 452,000 compared with the year-earlier quarter.
Time Warner President Jeffrey Bewkes said in a conference call with analysts this week that those pressures had prompted a review but didn’t say an outright sale was under consideration.
