Independent label INgrooves has started a mobile service that includes a social networking component, where fans can message each other as well as the labels and artists. The service does other things too, of course, such as provide access to independent artists’ profiles, ringtones, bios photos, albums, songlistings and mp3’s, as well as performance dates and user reviews. They’ll also be able to provide instant feedback to musicians, for example for concert performances.
The release also says that “INgrooves Mobile is a data-centric MVNO (Mobile Virtual Network Operator) implementation and is based on Saki Mobile Services, released earlier this year by Digital Standard.” I’m not sure what it means by “data-centric MVNO implementation”…
