SK Telecom’s Mobile Internet Revs Up 21 Percent; Acquires Entertainment Company

SK Telecom, Korea’s big telecom operator, has posted $2.5 billion in revenues, up 5.3 percent over the same period last year in Q1. It made W668 billion in operating profits, up 8.7 percent, and W337.2 billion in net income, down 8.5 percent. Its wireless Internet increase 21.1 percent on-year to W663.2 billion due to improvement in its service contents and a rise in the number of subscribers.
Also, SKT has acquired entertainment company iHQ, which manages 80 local top actors and actresses. It acquired a 21.9 percent share in iHQ early last year and now purchased another 5 million shares.
