[By Staci D. Kramer] Monday, Vivian Schiller was announced as the new business-side head of NYTimes.com; Tuesday, she was in LV on a panel she’d agreed to while still GM of Discovery Times. Schiller had a couple of interview caveats: no audio posting this time and an understanding that she wouldn’t have a lot to say yet about the job she starts next month. Turns out she had plenty to say; after all, she’s been working closely with NYTimes.com as SVP-TV & Video for the Times. She also cleared the air about any assumption that the move was related to the NYTCO decision to exit Discovery Times; it would have happened either way “because it’s a fantastic opportunity.” (An acting GM has been announced for Discovery Times but the video post won’t be filled. (Corrected: NYTimes.com has not had a GM since June 2005, when Scott Meyer moved over to head About.com
