Microsoft Close To Buying In-Game Advertising Firm Massive: WSJ

So says WSJ…I had been hearing rumors going back to last year that Massive was going to close a $50 million mezannine round and then go for an IPO…and was also close to a big in-game deal with EA. Anyway, now WSJ is reporting that Microsoft is close to buying the in-game advertising firm.
Massive has been around for only about two years, and the story says the deal is valued at $200 million to $400 million. The Santa Monica-based company sells the opportunity for companies to insert their brands on billboards, posters, soda cans and other on-screen elements within videogames. Massive then transmits those ads over the Internet and inserts them into the environments of games as users are playing.
