There is some action on the 3G front globally. Macau government plans to license three 3G licenses this coming October. Tou Veng Keong, coordinator of the Telecommunications and Information Technology Development Office, launched the tender document and set a six month deadline for awarding the licenses. A fourth 3G license could be offered within 2 years if the market supports this. Macau is a Special Administrative Region of the People’s Republic of China. [Via Cellular-News]
Another country is Georgia, whose National Communications Commission plans to auction licenses for 3G mobile services on May 23, the commission said. The starting price of the license amounts to 8.5 million lari. The deadline for applications to be received is May 8. [Via Cellular-News]
