Chicago-based startup TVCompass has received a $5.1 million first round of funding for growth capital and to expand its customer base. The round was led by led by Jackson Boulevard Capital. The TVcompass Smart Remote is a universal remote control with color LCD display, and WiFi connectivity to receive TV listings and one-click access to other content and information.
The company licenses its hardware and software technology and generates revenues from services and content served up on the remote color LCD screen. It recently tied up with Thomson and will launch a “Wi-Q” advanced home theater universal remote control with it.
