UK’s 3G operator 3, which has gained some acclaim for its SeeMeTV user-generated video service, which also pays the user based on the video views by other users, has some ridiculous terms of service, as Jemima found out.
There is the bit on users assigning all copyright of the material to 3: “As we will be the owner of the video, we can use and exploit it in any manner, and in any media, without payment to you (other than as set out above), and 3 may, without notice to you, grant the same or other rights in respect of your video to third parties without further payment to you….You acknowledge that, if posted on SeeMeTV, your video may not be forward-locked which means that, once downloaded, it may be forwarded by MMS or email to third parties without restriction and without further payment to you.”
