ZeeNews.com:
I think this has the potential to become the mother of all Indian portals. The Board of Control For Cricket In India (BCCI) is going to do a soft-launch of its much-awaited cricket portal very soon. BCCI has tied up with The Cricket Network (TCN) to design, build and operate the portal. The portal will have news, highlights, archival footage, statistics, streaming video, merchandising and will also drive mobile content. A full-fledged launch is expected during the ICC Champions Trophy later this year (UNI says in October).
The board plans to incorporate all Indian cricket associations to the portal which means it will have multi-lingual capabilities. TCN has selected Sun Microsystems to provide it infrastructure solutions and support for the implementation of the company’s digital asset management system that will power the BCCI portal. It plans to distribute the portal content through multiple channels – cable and satellite, audio, hand-held and any future devices.
