Sprint has added three new channels to its video line-up. They are:
Saturday Morning TV: All those classics that we watched as children on saturday morning, that allowed our parents to sleep in. Things like Mr Magoo, Rocky & Bullwinkle, Dick Tracy, Casper, Little Lulu and Roger Ramjet (he’s our hero).
Blip TV: This will have comedic shorts, clips and animation, ranging from 30 seconds to 3 minutes in length. This channel is also in China and has plans for Europe.
Comedy Time: A variety of stand-up comedy in six categories and original made-for-mobile shows. The categories are Urban/Hip-Hop, Latino, Relationships, Observational, Family and Alternative. This channel already has 500,000 subscribers in the US (not on Sprint, I assume, and is also in some European and Latin American markets.
Each channel will cost an additional $4.95 to watch. I don’t think this pricing scheme is going to work, they’re going to have to bundle it or make it cheaper or something. I don’t think Americans are looking to pay that much just for one channel.
