Two relatively-new community-driven online travel guide sites Wikitravel and World66 are being acquired by e-commerce holding company Internet Brands (owner of CarsDirect.com and Autos.com). The sites are collectively getting 2 million visits per month, more than triple a year ago, the company said in a statement.
Both the sites are build on wikis, and are built by user-contributions. Internet Brands will be investing in technology and other resources to help the sites continue to scale. The two sites will include contextual advertising in the near-future.
