Sify: Videsh Sanchar Nigam (VSNL) had seen a decline its internet subscriber growth since the users have been going in for broadband instead of dialup where VSNL is traditionally strong. The company is now planning to spruce up its retail broadband initiatives with fresh investments. N Srinath, Executive Director, said that VSNL was taking the cable route to push its broadband services to retail users. “We are tying up with cable operators across the country and reach to the end consumer. We are making investments wherever the cable operators network needs augmenting and this includes laying our own cable,” he added.
VSNL has already partnered 2,000 cable service providers to provide the last mile link for its broadband services.
