Oplayo, one of the early players in mobile video platforms (and based in Finland), has been jointly bought out by Sydney-based Slice Wireless and Prague-based U-Turn Media Group.
Slice Wireless is an international, carrier independent publisher of mobile video and multimedia content…U-Turn Media Group provides mobile content provisioning and delivery services for the likes of T-Mobile.
Olpayo was founded in 1996…Its investors included BlueRun Ventures, Zouk Ventures, SAC Participations GmbH, Holtron and others. It has a mobile video player, among the first such developed.
Oplayo also had investment from Siemens Acceleration in Communications’, the venture arm of Siemens, but Siemens disbanded the unit and recently sold all its portfolio companies to London-based secondary buyout firm Greenpark Capital.
My guess is that probably triggered some clauses, which helped in this sale The exact opposite is true…the ownership and change in investors complicated the sale.
