Namco Networks has announced a plan for a mobile PacMan tournament at upcoming games conference E3: “Daily qualifying rounds, of which there will be three, will be undertaken using the mobile phone version of Pac-Man, with contestants battling it out for the highest score. The day’s six highest scores on the leader board will qualify the contestants for entry into the final challenge, which will take place on an authentic Pac-Man arcade unit.”
This is a good way to get gamers interested in mobile gaming…basically bribe them to do something familiar. “Arcade fans are often surprised to find the mobile versions almost identical to playing the original arcade game,” said Scott Rubin, VP, sales and marketing for Namco Networks.
