Developing Countries Launch Internet-Based News Network

The Hindu: One of the first things that I learnt at my International Relations course in Jawaharlal Nehru University was that Non-Aligned Movement or NAM (What is it?) was losing its relevance. Becasue the world was no more bi-polar. Russia got disintegrated and so on. But it looks like NAM is still alive and kicking.
Developing countries have come together to start an Internet-based news service – called NAM News Network – to fend againt Western media’s partisan reporting. They will pool their media resources to provide an alternative to “unfair coverage” by the Western media. Malaysia’s national news agency Bernama will host the NAM News Network and will also be the administrator.
Content for the NNN website will be provided by the national news agencies of NAM member-countries as well as others such as China’s Xinhua. It is expected to be formally inaugurated in June. French, Spanish and Arabic news services are planned.
NAM has 114 member-countries including Singapore, Malaysia and India.
