Qpass, which has been around for the longest time and gone through various iterations of business models, has finally been sold. It has been acquired by telecom billing and services specialist Amdocs, for $275 million in cash.
Seattle-based Qpass makes software that processes sales of digital content for wireless carriers. The acquisition will help Amdocs create additional sources of revenue through the delivery of digital goods over multiple devices. Qpass has an estimated annual revenue of $15.1 $42 million and has about 300 people on its rolls in Seattle, London and Vienna. Amdocs acquired Qpass as consumers have begun to expect higher levels of personalization and richer content via multiple electronic channels including mobile, says a statement.
Shore analysis: With customer management solutions provider Amdocs having announced their acquisition of QPass, both visions of independent success with content ecommerce fade into the scenery. It comes after this year’s earlier acquisition of content ecommerce specialist eMeta by content tools provider Macrovision and Bitpass’ acquisition of Yaga, leaving few independent suppliers of content ecommerce services.
